On April 29, 2017 CrossFit Ridgeway hosted the Manion Hero WOD. The workout was done to honor First Lieutenant Travis Manion, 26, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, assigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based in Camp Pendleton, California, who was killed by sniper fire on April 29, 2007 while fighting against an enemy ambush in Anbar Province, Iraq. He is survived by his father, Colonel Tom Manion, mother Janet Manion, and sister Ryan Borek.

The event was attended by many guests including a huge group from Project Lean Nation. We also had Whole-E Roasters return with their food truck for lunch. It was great to see different gyms and people come together for a common cause. This WOD was very tough and it brought out the best determination in everyone that did it. Our next Hero WOD will be “Murph” done on Memorial Day to honor Navy Seal Michael Murphy who was killed in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Seven rounds for time of:
Run 400 Meters
135/95 Pound Back Squat, 29 reps

Looking forward, CrossFit Ridgeway is currently in the planning phase of its expansion project. Two Olympic weightlifting platforms, GHD’s, assault bikes and additional flooring are estimated to be put in place by the end of this summer! Stay tuned for next month’s blog post for more updates!
